I’ve been working on a double portrait of my nieces since before Christmas. I’ve just finished my third layer, this time with a small amount of walnut oil. Here it is thus far:

I had to go and make the spots on Eilidh’s pyjamas darker as the first time I did them, they were too light once I gave the paint time to settle.
I made the big yellow wall much, much paler. I also added a couple of tiny dark areas.
This leaves another, slightly more oil filled layer to go. I’ll adjust any lights or darks if needed and then go small, for the odd nook and cranny. Especially dark lines where objects meet. But without actually outlining the whole object.
