I went back to the Grand Canyon paintings again this afternoon. I kept in mind something I read yesterday. The reason I could have been pushing paint around was probably related to holding the brush too close to the bristles. So I tried holding it much futher back and it appeared to work better.
The paintings are still pretty abstract/simple. So I’m going to try and zoom in, so to speak, tomorrow. That way I can try and add some detail while the paint is still damp (it’s too cold in the house to dry quickly). My problem is I paint sort of loose. And the canvases are so small. But that’s an excuse.
